Let the celebration begin at Murphy’s Park as the Patriots 5k on the 4th and kids race celebrate our Powell community, family, and friends. Events start at 8:00 AM giving you plenty of time to catch parades and family barbecues. Runners, walkers, and strollers will tour the beautiful streets of Powell on this fast, flat, and family-friendly course.
I am a runner and running is my passion. It can be a tough sport but it isn't about the times, the number of miles, or the most expensive shoes. It's about you. About pushing yourself, your mentality, your limits of what you can do--mentally and physically. At the end of the day, your biggest competition is yourself. This is a big part of who I am. Many people have helped me get to where I am today, and I want to give back to the community.
For this reason for my Eagle Scout Project, I am organizing The Patriot 5k on the 4th race, which will take place on July 4th, 2017 at Murphy Park in Powell Ohio. An opportunity to combine my love for running with a chance to help fight poverty. Throughout the seasons, runners typically use their running shoes just for 2-3 months and afterwards we don’t know what to do with them as they pile up.
My goal is to collect hundreds of shoes and donate them to Soles4Souls, A charitable organization that collects new and used shoes and redistributes them through direct donations to people in need.
